Aura Haunted House - Bartonville, IL
Aura Haunted House invites guests to experience the chilling legacy of the Old Peoria State Hospital, a psychiatric facility that operated from 1902 to 1973. Built under Dr. George Zeller’s direction, the campus featured 63 buildings, including patient housing, a store, and the main hospital. In 1949, a tuberculosis ward was added, though deaths from the disease dated back decades. By 1906, tuberculosis had become the leading cause of death, prompting Dr. Zeller to isolate infected patients in hopes of containing the spread. Today, the haunted remnants of this once-bustling asylum echo with the memories—and spirits—of those who never left.
